How hCG Jump-Starts Weight Loss
Losing weight can be difficult, especially on your own. It’s no secret that obesity is prevalent in the US, and many patients who suffer from obesity also experience a number of related health conditions. One of the most effective weight loss plans we offer at Woodstock Family Practice and Urgent Care is the hCG diet.
Benefits of weight loss
Obesity is a common cause for other chronic illnesses. Our team at Woodstock Family Practice and Urgent Care wants to see you lead a long and healthy life without the risks that come with obesity such as heart disease and diabetes.
Losing weight can have other benefits, including lower cholesterol. Improved blood pressure, improved sleep, and reduced joint pain. This is not to mention the confidence boost you experience when you can see the results!
The hCG diet
This weight loss plan is designed to help you shed weight and improve your health. During this program, Dr. James Lee assists you to monitor your progress.
The process begins when Dr. Lee gives you an injection that consists of the hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) hormone, which women produce at high levels early in pregnancy. The hCG hormone has a unique ability to help speed up your metabolism and reduce your appetite.
The injections are paired with a strict diet that limits your caloric intake to only 500 calories a day for eight weeks. During the diet, you eat only two meals a day.
Foods you can eat during the diet
Following this strict diet is important toward getting the results you desire. The food choices we urge you to make include:
- Low-carb vegetables
- Lean proteins
- Breadsticks
- Unsweetened drinks such as tea and coffee
- Fruits such as citrus, apples, and strawberries
Three phases of the diet
The diet is prescribed in three phases:
- Loading: You receive the hCG injection and eat high-fat, high-calorie foods for two days.
- Weight loss: You continue to receive injections and stick to a 500-calorie limit for 3-6 weeks.
- Maintenance: You stop taking hCG and increase the amount of food you eat, but avoid sugar and starch for a few weeks.
The duration of the diet depends on how much weight you seek to lose. If you want to reduce minimal weight, you stay in the second phase for only three weeks, but for more drastic results, you stick with the diet longer.
